Space heater available on local market

This year’s display at the Building Centre will feature the New Wonder Space Heater, which had its origins on the New Zealand market, as long ago as ISSO. Since then, the actual firebox and air ducting system has been retained virtually unchanged and has proved to be an unusually reliable design. The exterior of the heater, however, has been : updated to make it an atI tractive addition to any | type of home. The New Wonder owes | its remarkable high effi- ! ciency and Jong life to the big area of heating surface over which the air passes on its way into the room. The rapid heat dissipation from fins, which cover the whole outer side

of the fire box. keep the steel firebox walls to a completely safe temperature. The same principle is used for cooling certain types of aero, motor cycle and motor car engines which operate under extremely high temperatures. The heater is particularly versatile in that it will burn all types of fuel — coal, coke, wood — and all models have provision for the easy installation of a wet-back. The in-built models are. particularly easy to install in that they have an outer casing around the firebox. This means there is no costly installation procedure. The unit simply slides into the fireplace without the necessity of sealing off the chimney and installing flues. A very important point is that, like all sealed type space-heaters, the New Wonder is a most efficient method of utilising fuels. The manufacturers claim it is four times as efficient as the open fire place. For the past few years the New Wonder has not been readily available in the Christchurch area. However, the manufacturers are setting up an assembly plant in the citv and upon establishment of this the heater will be a worthwhile addition to the city’s productivity.
