NZPA-Reuter Nairobi A Gabon Government executive jet, landed in Rhodesia on 'Tuesday after twice being fired upon as it tried to make an emergency landing in neighbouring Zambia. Aboard the plane were the Gabon Planning Minister (Mr Michel Anchovey), two Gabonese ambassadors, and a leading politician from Mali. The Falcon executive jet had developed fuel trouble on a flight from Botswana to Kenya and had twice tried to land at Livingstone in southern Zambia. It was fired upon both times from the ground there and landed instead in the western Rhodesian resort of Victoria Falls. A military spokesman in Salisbury said: “Our Army chaps there gave our unexpected guests a nice tour of the falls while our technicians fixed their plane. They left to continue their journey after about two hours.” After the plane landed at Nairobi, one of the passengers said: “Yes, we bad a bit of a problem, but it. was all a misunderstanding.” Zambia is on the alert against Rhodesian incursions into its territory to attack black nationalist guerrillas based there, and Zambian troops were surprised by the appearance of an unexpected plane. It was believed to be the first plane from a black African nation to land in Rhodesia since the country rebelled against British rule and became an international outcast in 1965,
