Electricians out; to meet today

PA Wellington Electricians at the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company mill at Kawerau -who went on strike for 24 hours at 8 a.m. yesterday, will meet this morning. They are. on strike over a pay’ issue in which they feel they are disadvantaged. The Tasman public relations officer, Mr S. W. Reidpath, said last, evening that the company and the union had held discussions with the Auckland industrial conciliator, Mr F. Gerbic, yesterday. The electricians held a meeting in the afternoon and then told the management that no settlement had been reached. The union would meet again this morning and go back to the management with the result, Mr Reidpath ! said.

Production was only slightly affected, but a prolonged’ dispute might cause significant disruption. he said.
