Private hospital purchase deal
The Southern Cross medical insurance group, which last month bought Calvary Hospital in Christchurch, is now negotiating the purchase of Brightside Hospital in Auckland. A private surgical hospital, Brightside has 34 beds, whereas Calvary had 74. The Auckland deal is expected to be completed soon as the directors of the hospital have unanimously recommended to their shareholders the acceptance of the Southern Cross offer. The manager of the Southern Cross Medical Care Society, Mr P. A. Smith, has confirmed the society’s bid
