Jack Staggs. executive director of the Motion Pic. ture and Television Hospital in suburban Woodland Hills, has hied the petition in the los Angeles Superior Court so he can move Weissmuller, who is 74. to a mental care j facility. Weissmuller is suffering from a deteriorating chronic brain syndrome, Mr Stagg; .says in the petition. Weissmuller won five gold medals in the 1924 and 192 b Olympics. He also set 67 world swimming records. I he actor starred in about a dozen movies about the lord of the itingle during the 1930 s and 1940 s and he also starred in the "Jungle Jim” television series. In recent 1 years he has made only occasional film appearances and at one lime he worked as a ■greeter at Caesar'* Palace m I Las Vegas.
