Record experience
Pauline Mooney, the manageress of the new E.M.I. record shop in the Shades shopping precinct, brings a wealth of experience in the record business to bear in running the outlet.
Her experience adds up to 11 years in the record trade — all aspects from retailing, wholesaling and “repping” as a saleswoman.
She worked as a saleswoman, “repping” for Music World fdr the whole of New Zealand, before transferring to Pye Records, with whom she worked for four years.
E.M.I. Cashel Street gave her two years in the retailing side of the business before taking up as manageress for the new shop in the Shades. For her, the advantage in working for all sides of the record industry adds up to helping the customer and keeping the shop running smoothly.
Her own tastes in music vary widely, and she admits to just beginning to enjoy the new wave
bands in recent months particularly from exposure to the television rock programmes. To her the new wave bands have got past the raw power stage and become a little more sophis-
ticated in artistry and technique. However, her wisdom and experience shows through in appreciating the mainstream of music in which the shop basically deals.
