Children flee fire
Handicapped children were, led safely from the “Little Acres’’ children’s home on Huntsbury Hill after a small fire broke out in the building last evening. the fire, which started in a drying room about 9 p.fn., was ‘quickly brought under control. It caused only minor damage. . The children were back in their beds by 9.30 p.m., said a staff member at the home, which is owned by the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The fire was attended by two pump appliances and the Fire Service’s emergency tender.
