According to the Post [Office, the new Burwood exchange. like several others .in Christchurch, has been I equipped with a new standard tone. It sounds like a ["busy tone” but with a faster cadence, but is called a [‘‘disconnect tone.” If this tone is heard a [caller sould hang up and call again or refer to the telephone directory.
