Most of the material is used in teaching both at undergraduate and graduate levels. Some arisis from a biopsy service provided for dentists by the department and some from research. The appointee will be competent in a wide range of histological techniques and will be expected to develop some new ones’ relevant to the Faculty's work. The successful applicant will assume direct responsibility for the training of trainee technicians. Knowledge of electron microscopic specimen preparation and familiarity with the functioning of an animal house are desirable. In the Department, there are at present five academic staff, one senior technical officer, a histological technician. an electron microscopic technician and one technical trainee. There is a good range of modern tissue processing and microtomy equipment. including a cryostat and a JB4 microtome. The appointment affords an excellent opportunity for an experienced, energetic person to acquire further experience in the management of a busy histological laboratory concerned with the use and development of a wide range of techniques and with the training of technicians. WELLINGTON REGIONAL WATER BOARD ELECTRICAL ENGINEER A VACANCY EXISTS in the Water Supply Section of the Wellington Regional Water Board for a Professional Electrical Engineer to head a small section. The appointee will be responsible for the operation and maintenance Of both the Board’s bulk water supply pumping stations and the Wellington City Council’s Waterworks distribution pumping stations, having a total of 9000 installed H.P. and including 500 H.P. thyristor controlled D.C. variable speed machines.
