Sydney market falls
Trading on the Sydney! sharemarket was cautious! yesterday, with falls by: most mining and industrial; shares treaded. Worries over interest! rates, and the falls in prices for gold, silver and other metals before Easter made
the market easier. However, B.HP. was one of the best performers, with a rise of 9c to 1005 c. Among the industrials, banks, brewers, building and ■construction groups, and re-j tailers were among those to| ease. C.R.A. finished two cents up at 362 c after a nervous, drop to 350 c in early trad-j ing.
I Western Mining, BougainIville and Hamersley were a few cents lower. [ Utah went ex-bonus, and, I lost 8c to 370 c when adjusted for rhe bonus.: Other coal stocks were also; easier.
Oil and gas stocks were! i:generally steady. I Lowes Sydney retailer ijrose 3c to 103 c after the! t[directors announced a 20c .(capital return, in the face of' ,lEzywalkin’s bid of 100 c a| ishare.
