Raglan land dispute
Sir, — It makes disturbing reading that a Minister of the Crown seeks to direct a Court to allow him jurisdiction over a matter of Which he will decide the outcome. I refer to an article (“The Press,” April 12) regarding Raglan Maoris. The judiciary is above reproach—appointed to Secide any issue in an impartial manner on the basis of evidence presented to them. Is there a law to say that a Minister may interfere with the workings of the Courts? If so, it is a very sad state of affairs for our country. — Yours, etc., E. WALTERS. April 12, 1979. J
