Nuclear submarine launching
Sir, — The United States has launched a Trident submarine to be stationed in the Pacific. Whether we like it or not, we New Zealanders are involved in the nuclear arms race. By saying, “we cannot stop them” or “there always was and always will be war,” New Zealanders will show that they do not care for their children’s future and for the whole world. People should join and commit themselves to a "non-violent anti-nuclear war’’ organisation. We must not forget that a handful of us will not make any impact, but millions of us will and indeed do. As Peter Jones said, “because of millions of protesters in the United States many nuclear power plants have closed down.” — Yours, etc., E. WEBSTER. April 16, 1979.
