Rapist given six years jail

PA Auckland An intruder who raped a teen-age girl at knifepoint after breaking into her bedroom was sentenced to six years jail. Tamaiti Rua Kaitamaki, aged 24, a printer, had been found guilty by a jury Of rape and burglary. Mr Justice Speight said Kaitamaki had become a menace in the community at a time when Auckland women were beset by

night-time intruders. Offences of such a type were on the inrrease in Auckland. Kaitamaki had unlawfully entered premises on five occasions. On two, he had committed grave sexual outrages on an innocent young woman. The sentences were six years for the rape and two years for the burglary, the terms to be concurrent.
