For young readers
What do children need to become good citizens? Even more important, what do children feel that children, not just in New Zealand, hut throughout the world, need to become good citizens? I’his question was asked of about 70 lorm 2 pupils at a Christchurch school, and the drawing above, by Bill Paynter, illustrates their answers. This is the International Year of the Child and much is being written about the rights of children. The Christchurch pupils who discussed the question were more interested in needs than rights for themselves and for fellow citizens all round the world.
