Ruru pines to be cut down
| The removal of old pine] 'trees along Ruru Road.j Bromley, to make way for a! inew warehouse has been! (approved by the Christ'Church City Council’s parks ’and reserves ’committee. The Director of Parks and Recreation (Mr H. G. Gilpin), said in a report to the committee that six of the trees would be directly in the way lof the warehouse, which I would be built against’the I eastern boundary of the Ruru Lawn Cemetery. Twelve other trees, if left, might fall on to the new building, he said. Mr Gilpin said that the trees had a limited life expectancy, and their removal would enable a general improvement of that portion of the cemetery. He said that the engineering firm of Taylors. Ltd. had a legal entitlement to build ! against the cemetery’s j boundary.
