PA Whangarei An Australian and New Zealand record price of §lO,OOO was paid for a yearling Jersey bull at the annual sale of Grandeur Stud Jerseys at Towai recently. The bull was sold to a Waikato syndicate.
The amount pai dwas a record for a yearling bull of any dairy breed. Another record was set when a line of 27 head sold for an average of §1730. The Grandeur Stud averaged §1372 for the cows sold with a top price of $2900. The yearling bulls averaged §2438. The Mount Tiger Stud sale, held in conjunction, saw a §650 average for the stud cows with a top of §lOOO. In-calf heifers averaged $493, with a top of §9OO.
