China appeals before talks

Vietnam to adopt a positive and sincere attitude during, their coming peace talks in] 'Hanoi, in the wake of the; [Sino-Vietnamese border war. | The appeal was contained! in a Peking “People’s Daily”) commentary quoted by the] New China News Agency] just before the Chinese Vice-j Foreign Minister (Mr Nan Lianlong) left Peking for his; meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart, Mr Phan Hien.. in Hanoi. "On the eve of the SinoVietnamese negotiations, we (earnestly appeal to the Viet-i inamese authorities to take a positive and sincere attitude; and contribute their due to a peaceful settlement of the issues with China and to the preservation of peace and security in South-East Asia,”, the "People’s Daily” said.
