Clash proved anti-climax

[nzpa Sydney : The return clash of The Scots Iman, winner of last weeks : Miracle Mile, and the boom New 'Zealand pacer. Lord Module, proved to be an anticlimax at the Harold Park Raceway on Thursday night. Both horses contested the first qualifying division of the Lord Mayor's Cup run over the sprint journey of 1960 m. The Scotsman, favourite at 11 to 8, failed to flatter at any stage. His New Zealand counterpart, a close second elect at 7 to 4, once again raced erratically. Beginning slowly but safely Lord Module quickly made up his ground and was a handy eighth on settling down. With a lap completed, his driver, Cec Devine, decided to improve his position. Pulling the whip Devine urged Lord Module around the field. However, the horse began to race erratically and hung outwards. With a lap to go he was caught three wide and obviously was under a great deal of pressure. Coming to the turn Devine was hard at work on the New Zealand pacer. Meanwhile Vlo Frost, on the 7 to 1 chance, Remember Joy. pulled out from the rails to Join the early leader. Candy’s Brother. Frost shot Remember Jov to the lead on straghteiiing. Lord Module moved to second unde, hard driving but proved n$ match for the winner.
