By
G. K. YULE
I Del Miller will only have! ! to reproduce a peak run to! ‘be the hardest to beat in the 810,000 New Zealand Tro't-i ting Stakes at Addington! I Raceway today. ! A win for him will earn ; his dam, Kahu, a place in 'the record book as the first imare to produce two win-! |ners of the classic. She is | already the dam of the ill-1 'fated 1972 winner, Black! Miller, which was the fourth!
! winner of the event trained j by Jack Litten. Del Miller lost some admiirers when he finished I thirteenth at Addington ! Raceway on March 30. However, that lapse was just one of those things which happen in racing. He lost a shoe after about 300 m, became j unbalanced and broke, and later in the race he was | badly checked, losing all 'chance. Dei Miller has I trained on well in the mean- :
time and should prove too speedy for most in the event Now that Sid. which has been causing his trainer some concern in recent weeks, has, along with False Kiwi and Maybe, been scratched, the hardest for Del Miller to beat might be the lone North Island representative, Thriller Dee. Thriller Dee has won three times and beat a strong field of three and .
four-year-olds at Hutt Park early in March. She is bred to be good, being by Crockett from Gay Marlene, a tough staying trotter when trained by the late Ivan Dickie. Eee Tee, an impressive winner at Hororata last Saturday, Flying Star, Now Then, Tough Girl and Lee Mir are others expected to add interest to one of the feature races on the programme.
