N.Z. MARKET CLOSED FIRM
The New Zealand sharemarket closed on Thursday for the Easter break on a firm note in active trading—despite there being only a morning call. Pye Electronics rose 4c to 90c on the news of an export deal to China, and Radio Avon continued to firm. Stock and station agents were in demand, Crown rising 10c to 265 c and Dalgety N.Z. selling as high as 216 c on a small late sale. Wattie Industries gained 1c to 97c on its higher equity profits.
