Third arson attempt
Christchurch detectives are still investigating a third attempt to set fire to the premises of a Sydenham cartage firm, W. A. Brown, Ltd. The latest fire, in a pile of tryres and wooden pallets in the company’s Gasson Street yard, was noticed about 11 p.m. on Tuesday by an employee. The Fire Service quickly brought the blaze under control. The police were called, but no trace was found of the arsonist.
A week ago, stacks of pallents in the yard were set alight twice in one night. There was no apparent motive for the arson attempts, said Detective Sen-ior-Sergeant M. J. Muddi-
man, of the Christchurcj C. 1.8. The incidents were bemt treated very seriously by th( police, he said. No arrest had been madt by last evening.
