> X PUBLIC SERVICE OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA COMMISSIONER - METROPOLITAN WATER BOARD (Established under the Metropolitan Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage Act, 1904-1978) REMUNERATION: Salary A 438.715 (gross) p.a., plus an expense allowance of $l2OO p.a. — adiusted from time to time in accordance with determinations of the Salaries and Allowances Tribunal. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant will preferably have tertiary qualifications and a background in a discipline that has relevance to the provision of urban hydraulic services plus a sound knowledge of world trends in this field and of business methods employed in the associated industries. Experience in an executive position in the utility industry is desirable. A leader who is able to co-operate and develop good relations with the public, both State and Commonwealth Departments, and with leaders in the private sector, is being sought. DUTIES: As e executive member of the Metropolitan Water Board initiate and formulate policy and procedures necessary to ensure development and maintenance of adequate water supply, sewerage and drainage services for an urban community approaching one million persons. Leads in maintaining from year to year, a five year rolling development programme setting out on corporate planning principles, the philosophy and policy of the Board. Ensure that policy determined by the Board is implemented in a manner aimed at maintaining a self reliant, forward thinking, efficient enterprise. CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT: Initial appointment will be subject to the approval of the Governor in Executive Council for a term not exceeding seven years. Conditions of service and allowances will be on the same terms and at the same rates applicable to an officer employed in a permanent capacity in the State Public Service and shall include: • four weeks annual leave /?. • cumulative sick leave • three months long service leave on the completion of seven years continuous service. , Appointment will be subject to passing a medical examination and chest X-ray. SUPERANNUATION: Subject to e approval of the State Superannuation Board the successful applicant will be entitled to become a contributor under the provisions of the Superannuation and Family Benefits Act, 1938. TRANSPORT AND REMOVAL ASSISTANCE: The cost of first class air fares incurred by the appointee, wife and dependent children under the age of sixteen years, plus a reasonable amount as a contribution towards the cost of removal of essential personal and household effects, subject to the appointee entering info an agreement to remain in the employ of the State for one to three years, according to assistance given. A single appointee will receive the cost of first class air fares plus limited assistance toward the cost of removal of personal effects.
