Explorers lead rally

Sharemarkets rallied on reports from mining and exploration companies, and some good performances were seen among the industrials in Australia yesterday. B.H.P. rose 35c to 1190 c ahead of the stock going exbonus, and ex-dividend. CSR gained 5c to 375 c on the expectation of a sugar price-rise. CRA gained 8c to 373 c after releasing the Ashton Diamond venture quarterly report indicating over 14,600 stones weighing 1500 carats had so far been recovered. Ashton Mining gained 5c to 110 c, but the third partner, Northern Mining eased 5c to 110 c. A further report from Woodside on the Pueblo 1 well indicating hydrocarbons gave Woodside a 1c boost to 88c. Western Mining gained 1c
