NIGHT IN THE BUSH The trees stand over you like ghosts, Every sound amplified into evil. The silence of the unknown lays Ahead of you in foreboding eerieness; The threat of attack growing bigger As you get isolated from any human sound. Groping your way to safety from Your imaginations and fears, The spooky tranquility tensing Your nerves. But then, the golden rays of Light come and obliterate the Evil beholding you. David Hartshorn, aged 12. THE NIGHTIME FOREST Total silence. Except for the sound of rustling creatures Deep in the forest floor. High above trees tower over you, lake giants, While in the middle sector Small bushes form shapes Like little villains about to attack. Between the trees specks of light. Peer through like cats’ eyes in the dark. The eerie scent of a haunted house lungers in the air. Chills of fear running up your spine. Terrifying and confusing thoughts pour Into your head, Wondering if we’re completely alone. Morning comes, the fear has gone, For now we can see and our Imagination can no longer run wild. Everything is once again in perspective. Lucy Polson, aged 12.
