Decorated Easter eggs
Cook an egg until it is hard-boiled (about 10 minutes). When the egg is cold, draw a pattern or a face on the shell with greasy crayons. Put a. teaspoonfui of vegetable colouring into a small bowl with enough cold water to cover the egg. Stir well and place your decorated egg in the coloured water. Leave it overnight. In the morning you should have a gaily-col-oured egg to stand in an egg cup to make a pretty decoration for your breakfast table; but it wouldn’t be very good to eat. If you would like to have coloured eggs for breakfast on Easter Day,
add one teaspoonfui of vegetable colouring to the water and boil in the usual way. And here is a recipe for an Easter snack: cinnamon toast. You need: 2 slices of toast-cut bread; butter; | teaspoon of cinnamon; 2 level tablespoons of brown sugar. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together in a cup. Toast the bread on one side and spread the untoasted side with butter. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the butter. Place under the grill for two or three minutes, or until the topping is a golden brown. Cool a little and cut into finger slices.
