N.Z. MARKET REGAINS MOMENTUM
The New Zealand sharemarket yesterday regained some of the momentum it had earlier last week, and the N.Z.U.C. index rose 1.16 points to set a new high for the year of 341.69. Share prices were firmer, including Brierley Investments, N.Z. Forest Products, and South British up 2c each. However, profit-taking was evident with Dominion Breweries, F.T.C., and Tasman easing. John Bums rose 40c to 230 c on the news of the directors’ plans to fight off the bid by a Brierley subsidiary, while A, S. Paterson and Mount Cook continued to firm on announced bonus issues.
