Husband and wife in indoor bowls team
The Canterbury husband and wife combination of Maria and Trevor Austin are among the 26 players named yesterday in the New Zealand indoor bowls team to tour Australia in August. New Zealand will play 11 matches in Tasmania and South Australia during the 19-day tour and the highlight will be a test match against Australia in Adelaide. Also in the team are four other Canterbury players, Bryone Immers, Marie Watson, Leon McLennan and Alf Williamson.
The remaining members of the team are: — Sylvia Bishop, Ron Fleming, Les Dunn, (Auckland); Kath Thompson, June Oliver, Kevin Boothby, Graham Pedersen, (Waikato); Joselyn Tucker, Bill Le Geyt (Hawke’s Bay); June Richardson, (Poverty Bay); Ron Dockary jnr, (North Wellington); Keith Surridge, Phyl Robertson (Wellington); George Benvenuti, (Hutt Valley); Dawn Garrett, Janice Ralton, John Leitch, (Upper Hutt Valley); Marcia Lancaster. Peter Clark. (Bay of Plenty); Wynette McLachlan, (South Otago).
