Record bookings for bus lines
Passenger bus services have received record bookings for the Easter period as a result of the fuel crisis. Newmans Coach Lines services are very heavily booked, according to the Christchurch manager (Mr
R. M. Reader). New Zealand Road Services buses were also heavily booked and additional coaches had had to be put on to cope with the demand, according to a spokesman. Twelve extra coaches
have been placed on the southern services for Thursday morning alone, and about five extra coaches for the afternoon, he said. Coaches running to the West Coast were also more fully booked than usual.
