Troops ring Kampala

NZPA-Reuter Nairobi Thousands of Tanzanian troops and Ugandan rebels marshalled in the i suburbs of Kampala are expected to make their final push into the virtually undefended capital after reports of heavy , fighting on its southern outskirts. Diplomatic sources in the Ugandan capital said on Saturday that the 1000 or so Libyan troops sent to prop up President Idi Amin's regime had been flown out of the country in Cl3O transport planes from northern airbases. The force of fighting men left to defend the capital, virtually surrounded by anti-Amin forces, was estimated by diplomatic sources in Nairobi as insignificant. Some residents said they thought they had heard a broadcast in Ugandan on a radio frequency used by Tanzania warning people to leave Nakasero Hill, the site of Information Ministry radio studios and a lodge where President Amin has been reported to be seen recently.
