Taxi-driver slashed with knife
PA Auckland A taxi-driver was slashed with a knife when he was attacked in his car by four young persons in Epsom on Saturday night. The driver had taken two youths and two girls from Mount Albert to Halifax Street, Epsom, when he was grabbed by the hair and pulled back by the youth sitting in the back seat with the two girls. The second youth then welded a small kitchen knife, about 130 cm long with a wooden handle. The driver suffered several cuts to the stomach while trying to fight off the assailants. The driver sent out an emergency call on his car radio and within minutes had been found by fellow taxidrivers. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital for treatment and was later discharged.
