NZPA-Reuter Montevideo China was brought back into the Olympic fold in an unexpected manner on Saturday when the Inter-.,, national Olympics Committee (1.0. C. recognised both it and Taiwan. At the 1.0.C.’s eightyfirst annual session which ended on Saturday evening, the committee decided after a lengthy debate to readmit China, which withdrew from the Olympic movement 21 years ago, without expelling Taiwan. to a resolution passed by 36 votes to 28, the 1.0. C. agreed “to recognise the Chinese Olympic Committee located in Peking and to maintain recognition of the Chinese Olympic Committee located in Taipei.” But Peking officials were not satisfied with the compromise formula, which did not meet their demand that the 1.0. C. withdraw recognition from Taiwan.
