Labour men to quit

PA Auckland Two top Auckland Labour Party officials have announced that they will resign. The regional president (Dr B. Gustafson) and the regional secretary (Mr K. Hastings) have told the regional council that they will relinquish their posts as from the next annual meeting in May. They said they felt they had been in office long enough. Dr Gustafson has held his post since 1973, and Mr Hastings, since 1972.

Dr Gustafson took leave of absence before the General Election for medical reasons. He also said he had felt pressure in holding various university posts, including the national presidency of the University Teachers’ Association.
