Laos build-up
Laos, which ordered all Chinese experts to leave the country last month, has reinforced its troops along its border with China, senior Chinese officials in the south China city of Kunming have said. The officials in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province bordering Laos and Vietnam, said the withdrawal 1 of Chinese road-builders and other technicians from Laos would be completed soon. The officials spoke of the “unfriendly atmosphere” towards China on the Lao side of the frontier. ■ — Kunming.
