Big quantity of drugs stolen
A big quantity of drugs was stolen from one of three Christchurch pharmacies which were entered by burglars on Thursday night. Detectives were yesterday making extensive inquiries into the break-ins, the latest in a chain of drug-oriented burglaries of chemists’ shops in Christchurch. The big haul of drugs was taken from a locked cabinet at the Shirley Pharmacy in Marshland Road. As in several other chemi s t s ’ shop burglaries
recently, the thieves also removed "the burglar alarm. A burglar alarm was interfered with after the Gayhurst Pharmacy, in Gayhurst Road, was broken into. Davis’s Pharmacy, at 211 Hills Road, was also burgled, but no drugs were stolen from either shop. Seven Christchurch chemists’ shops have been burgled in the last two weeks. Detectives had made no arrests by last evening in connection with Thursday night’s burglaries.
