Earlier date for talks on trawler
PA Invercargill The West. German factory trawler Wesermunde, fishing off the Auckland Islands, is expected to have her freezers packed full by today. But
II talks about who will unload lher — crew or watersiders ;! — will not begin until April 117. ’; The question about her ’ future is whether the West s German owner, Hanseatische t Hochseefischerei AG, is willing to wait that long. I Originally the date set for a hearing by the Waterfront Industry Tribunal was April 26. The Minister of Labour (Mr Bolger) decided this was too long to wait, and has called a meeting of the Fishing Industry Board, watersiders, and other interested parties at the earlier date. The Southland Harbour Board has called on the watersiders at Bluff not to further delay a decision to allow the crew of the Wesermunde to unload their own catch. The president of the [watersiders’ union (Mr R. [Powley) said yesterday that [lhe would need until Monday [ito discuss the matter with ■ ■ ! his executive.
