Brutus in for a killing at Rangiora
By
J. J. BOYLE
' Brutus, winner of close to $50,000 for Ray Harris’s Tuahiwi stable this season, should keep his record moving in the Kaiapoi Handicap, second leg of the North Canterbury Racing Club’s T.A.B. double on Monday.
Me has earned $29,000 on Nprth Island courses in the last few weeks, and if he tomes up to expectations at Rangiora on Monday and at Riccarton at Easter, he will run in the Ninth Avondale Championship Stakes on April 28.
Brutus will carry 53.5 kg in the 1200 m sprint at the North Canterbury meeting, no more than he mastered with ease against several of New Zealand’s best metric milers in the Wellington Racing Marlboro Mile, at weight-for-age, March 17. • He was weighted at 56.5 T- —
■ur muuuay s race, out nay Harris has secured relief for the star of his team by engaging an in-form apprentice. Karen Coleman. Sir James, an unlucky fourth at Nelson on Monday, and Lord Hymac, winner of his last two races, appear to jbe two of the stronger chances in the Rangiora Hani dicap, first leg of the T.A.B. 1 double.
