Super Value changes only in North Is.
All of 21 Super Value stores, which will change their names to Woolworths, as reported yesterday, are in the North island.
The change of names is associated with changes in the stocks carried by the stores, at the instigation of L. D. Nathan and Co, Ltd, after it acquired Woolworths N.Z., Ltd, early this year. The 21 stores involved are large enough to carry a wider range of goods than at present, and they will become more like the established Woolworths shops. The Super Value name is used in both the North and
South Islands, but this is only as a result of an understanding between L. D. Nathan, and G.U.S. Wholesalers, Ltd. There is no financial connection between L. D. Nathan, and G.U.S. Wholesalers, which supplies the supermarkets using the 1.G.A., and Super Value names, and others in the South Island.
