The environment

Sir, —Thank you for yesterday’s report on “Doomwatch.” It appears that destruction of our environment is far more serious than many realise. What hope is there for our children? All our other problems appear insignificant compared with this. What use are improvements in other spheres of life if we only pollute ourselves into extinction within a generation or so? The individual mustn’t think he cannot do anything. There are several organisations concerned with the environment. Everyone who cares about the world he lives in can do something now; there isn’t time to wait for governments to act.— Yours, etc., PAUL STEVENSON. January 19, 1972.
