Kaimanawa For Sale
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 23. The Union Steam Ship Company’s freighter Kaimanawa, which seamen refused to man because they claimed she was a “slum” ship, is to be sold. Mr R. A. Johnson, Auckland manager of the line, said that already one representative from an overseas shipping company had been to look at the 2515-ton ship. Several weeks ago the ship should have gone on the Australian run, but seamen claimed she had bad ventilation, leaking hatches and cramped sleeping quarters.
