Ewe Schedule Opens Higher
The opening export schedule for ewes was announced on Friday. It contains prices which are better than at the opening of last season.
Mr H. N. Davis, an assistant general manager of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, said yesterday that the exporters did not anticipate greater realisations for ewes, but at this time last year the outlook did not look as good for opening sales as it does now. The opening schedule has been issued in the same form as the new schedule for lambs, containing prices for meat and pelt, also allowances for wool which have to be added to the meat and pelt prices. Details of rates for meat and pelt only are:

Seconds Up to 481 b .. .. 8} Over 481 b .. .. 7| Export Manufacturing Carcase .. 7 J Manufacturing or boned .. 4 In explanation of the subdivision of the export manufacturing classification, Mr Davis said that if these ewes qualified for export in carcase form they would be paid for at the rate of 7Jd per lb. If they did not the price would be 4d. Weight of wool will be assessed and an additional payment will be made a head on the following basis: I lb, 4d; 8 lb, 6d; J lb, 8d; f lb, lid; 1 lb, 14d; l|lb, 17d; 1} lb, 20d; 1| lb, 23d: 1| lb, 26d; Ij lb, 30d; 1| lb, 34d; 1? lb, 38d; 2 lb 42d; 21 lb, 46d; 2| lb, 50d: 2J lb, 54d: 2J lb, 59d: 2? lb, 64d: 2| lb, 69d; 2J lb, 74d; 3 lb, 79d.
