Farewell to Master
Shipping associates and their wives said goodbye to Captain E. G. K. Meatyard, master of the Wahine, at a private function in Lyttelton on Saturday morning. On behalf of those present, Captain C. C. Gass, wharf superintendent for the Union Steam Ship Company at Lyttelton, presented Captain Meatyard and his wife with a gift. Captain Meatyard will retire at the Cnd of this month after 149 years at sea.
