RECORDS BROKEN

Ebert Lifts 2051 b (N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. Two New Zealand records were broken at the New Zealand weight-lifting contest which ended at Palmerston North on Saturday. J. Bolton (Auckland), the New Zealand Empire Games representative, broke the snatch record in the light heavy-weight class when he lifted 2501 b. The previous record, held by H. Komene, was 2401 b. In the light-weight class T. Ebert (Canterbury) pressed 2051 b for a New Zealand junior record, but during the two-handed snatch was put out of the contest by missing his three attempts. Once again D. Oliver (Auckland) dominated the heavyweight division although his total lift of 9501 b was 1501 b short of his record.
