Queensland Filly (N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) SYDNEY. The Queensland filly. Tod Maid, landed a huge betting plunge when she careered away with the 10,000-dollar Silver Slipper Stakes (four furlongs and a half) at Rosehill on Saturday. Tod Maid arrived In Sydney by plane at 4.20 p.m. on Friday and will return home on Tuesday. The local filly, Birthright (4 to 1), was second, two lengths and a half away, with the colt, Pratten Park (9 to 2). five lengths away, third. Tod Maid opened at 3 to 1 and eased to 7 to 2 but in the last 15 minutes of betting huge backing came for her. Tod Maid surprised Sydney racegoers with her fantastic speed in the first furlong and a half of the race. In the straight the Queensland jockey, F. Clarke, merely shouted at Tod Maid to keep her going for an easy win.

Tod Maid has raced only twice for two brilliant wins. On Saturday week she won a division of the McDougall Stakes in Brisbane In near record time. On Saturday she ran the four furlongs and a half in 52.8 sec, which Is 9-10th of a second outside Miss Helldon's Australian record.
