HOSPITAL SERVICE

About 150 persons attended a service conducted by Methodist, Presbyterian and Roman Catholic chaplains, at the Coronation Hospital yesterday afternoon. The superintendent of the hospital (Dr. T. O. Enticott) said yesterday that about £4O was collected at the service, which was held to mark a renewed effort to raise funds to establish a chapel at the hospital. The money would go towards the staff fund for the chapel, he said. “We were very pleased and impressed with the response to the service, and we are very grateful to all the people who came.” he said. Little progress has been made with the fund since it was started at the fiftieth anniversary of the hospital two years ago. The chaplains who conducted the service were the Rev. G. Trebilco. Methodist chaplain to the hospital, the Rev. Canon R. Andrews, Anglican chaplain, and the Rev. D. Steedman, Presbyterian chaplain. The sermon was preached by the Rev. D. Shaw, chaplain to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Mr E. Burmister of Christchurch was re-elected president of the New Zealand Antique Arms Association at the association’s annual meeting at Christchurch on Saturday. Messrs L. G. Perham and R. Fineran, of Christchurch, were elected life members.
