RESERVOIR TROUBLES

A new type of record relay had been installed at the Halswell Junction road pumphouse to try to overcome the reservoir overflow permitted by the old type, the Halswell County Council was told. Ait the council’s June meeting a report said the old relays had given trouble on many occasions since they were Installed, often causing the reservoir to overflow. The county engineer (Mr M. J. Clark) said the new relay had been flown from Britain and appeared to be functioning as designed.
