Mishaps In Family

When Andrew Bourke, aged 18. of Whangarei. fell in an Auckland road cycling race at Papakura on Saturday he was taken to hospital with arm and head injuries. This was just another chapter in a series of mishaps for the family of Mr and Mrs K. Bourke. of Anzac avenue. Whangarei.

Mr and Mrs Bourke have five sons and a daughter. In the last 12 months all the boys have

been in hospital and the daughter has also suffered injury. This accident list is: Andrew, fell in cycle race at Thames and went to hospital for wound stitching. He also fell in the Auckland hard-track championships at Okara park. Whangftrei. and broke an arm. Warren, aged 17. hit a car during the Whangerei road-cycle race, broke a leg and is still in hospital.

Barry, aged 16. filled a .303 cartridge case with

match heads and hit It with a tomahawk. In the explosion fragments of brass lodged in his chest Julie, aged 14. fell down stairs and injured her ankle. Later she tore ligaments walking across a hockey field. Malcolm, aged 13. hit a five-ton truck on his bicycle. He was admitted to hospital with concussion. Murie, aged 12. spent three months in hospital with a thigh injury received playing at school. He is still in callipers.
