TURN-OVER HIGHER BUT RANGE NARROW

Turn-over was higher at the start of the week’s trading yesterday, but the range narrowed. Rises were ahead of falls but the undertone was again steady. Westland Breweries jumped 2s to 42s—a new high level—in first sales for some weeks. New Zealand Breweries advanced Id to 13s 7d, but Taranaki Brewery lost 3d to 10s 9d. National Insurance moved up 3d to 23s and New Zealand Insurance Id to 23s lOd. The unlisted Hellaby rose a further 6d to 48s 6d. Among frozen meats Gear slipped 3d to 13s and New Zealand Refrigerating notes lost the Is gained late last week in sales at 13s. Clyde Engineering fell Is 2d to 23s in first ex dividend sales, while K.P. Drug declined further with a 2s 6d fall to 42s 6d.
