San Jose Win Basketball

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. B. Bowden (Wellington) was the individual star of the New Zealand-San Jose State College men’s basketball “test” at Lower Hutt on Saturday. San Jose won 76-41—and deservedly so—but there was much to admire in the New Zealand team’s display. The floor was far too slippery and reduced the effectiveness of many of the movements. San Jose enjoyed a tremendous advantage in height, man for man. but this did not deter the sft Sin, 27-year-old Bowden, who thrilled the capacity crowd of 1100 with a four-goal burst early in the second half, carving his way through the tight American defence to net cleanly each time.
