EX-KIWIS WIN THIRD MATCH

The Ex-Kiwis scored their third win in as many matches this season by defeating an Ex-Tournament XIII, 39-14, in an attractive match at the Show Grounds yesterday.

Both teams threw the ball around as much as possible with the result that 13 tries, nine by the Ex-Kiwis, were scored. The Ex-Kiwis were reinforced by several members of the West Coast team returning from Wellington. The visitors had something of a field day. scoring five tries while B. J. Mann five goals. For the Ex-Kiwis, L. P. Brown; ■ (two). A. P. Dennehy (two), G. j M. Kennedv. N. K. Roberts, J. L. White, W. K. Henry, and G.

H. Turner scored tries. Mann (five) and Henry kicked goakc.

M. J. Worters (two), S. Dunn and R. Raistrick scored tries for the Ex Tournament Xlll—comprised of player* who had attended national under-15 tournaments—and £. Bennett kicked a goal. Very High Standard The switching of play, positioning and backing up of the , Ex-Kiwis was always good and •at times reached a standard seldom seen on the Show Grounds this season. In the forwards Turner, R. O. Scholefield and G. R. Cooper pounded away up front,- opening gaps for the speed}’ White and Dennehy. whose deceptive running earned him the distinction of being the best forward in the match. In the backs P. J. Greedy made several fine breaks and his partnership with Roberts was an efficient one Mann made several brilliant tackles and Kennedy and Brown upheld their fine reputations. One of the deciding factors was the fine ball distribution and leadership of the new New Zealand test coach, D. L. Blanchard. t).
