Country Girls’ Activities

Members of the Avon, Ellesmere, Darfield and Waihora clubs attended a meeting of the Christchurch district committee of Country Girls’ Clubs at Lincoln College. Six members of the committee attended the annual conference in New Plymouth, where one member, Mrs Margaret Sebire, was elected to the Dominion executive committee. A team was entered in the national stock-judging contest at Roxburgh and an advisory members’ evening was held in Christchurch.

Darfield reported that its debating team had been narrowly beaten in the South Island final of the recent national contest.

Coming events are a table tennis evening at Little River tonight, district competitions day on October 1, the district dance at Kirwee on September 10, and a quiz evening on August 9. Arrangements are well in hand for the “Miss Wool” contest.
